Pengertian Conjunction

Conjunction adalah kata atau kelompok kata yang digunakan untuk menghubungkan frasa(phrase), klausa(clause), dan kalimat(sentence).
Conjunction merupakan salah satu parts of speech. Conjunction juga disebut connective atau penghubung. Terdapat jenis-jenis conjunction dalam bahasa inggris: coordinate conjunction, correlative conjunction, subordinate conjunction, dan adverbial conjunction. Berikut ini penjelasan dan contohnya.

Coordinate Conjunction
Coordinate Conjunction mengabungkan item yang setara atau sama dalam suatu kalimat.

Correlative Conjunction
Beberapa conjunction berpasangan dengan kata lain untuk membentuk apa yang disebut correlative conjunction yang berfungsi untuk menunjukkan hubungan antara dua kata, phrase, atau clause.

The adverbial conjunctive such as however, moreover, nevertheless, consequently, as a result digunakan untuk membuat hubungan yang kompleks antara gagasan atau ide dalam suatu paragraf.
