Procedure Text vs Descriptive Text
Materi kali ini, kita akan membahas mengenai text dalam bahasa inggris yaitu procedure text dan descriptive text. Kedua text tersebut pasti sudah tidak asing lagi bukan bagi sahabat KBI? Lalu apa sih yang menjadi perbedaan dari kedua text tersebut? apakah kedua text tersebut sama? atau memang berbeda? Kita lihat saja ya penjelasan keduanya berikut ini 🙂
Apa itu procedure text?
Procedure text merupaka sebuah text dalam bahasa inggris yang digunakan untuk menggambarkan sesuatu secara detail, contohnya langkah langkah untuk membuat sesuatu, atau tahapan dalam membuat sesuatu. Misalnya saja sahabat KBI ingin membuat makanan lalu melihat langkah-langkah dan apa saja yang dibutuhkan, nah hal tersebut bisa dikatakan sebuah procedure text.
Bagian dari procedure text yaitu Goal, material dan juga steps. Gaol bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi mengenai maksud pembuatan atau pelaksanaan, sedangkan material merupakan alat atau bahan yang digunakan untuk mencapai goal tersebut da yang terakhir adalah step atau langkah untuk mencapai sesuatu tersebut.
Contoh :
How to Make Ice Cream
Materials:
2 cups milk or cream
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Several cups of Ice
1 cup salt
You need these supplies to make ice cream
Tub or large coffee can to hold salt and ice
Glass bowl or small coffee can
Electric mixer or whisk
Ice cream scoop
Storage container for freezer
Steps:
First, setting up the cooling apparatus. Stir ice and salt in the larger container.
Then, combine the ingredients. Mix together the milk, sugar, and vanilla in the glass bowl. Then, set this bowl in the tub filled with ice and rock salt, making sure that the salt water does not spill into the bowl.Next, mix the ice cream. Mix the ingredients in the small container vigorously. The salty ice mixture will cool the mixture down until it turns into ice cream. It should take about 10 to 15 minutes to stir the ice cream using either method. Stir until it is free from ice crystals and is the right consistency.
Last, storage and serving. ice cream is ready.
Apa itu Descriptive text?
Descriptive text merupakan sebuah text dalam bahasa inggris yang digunakan untuk menjelaskan sesuatu secara detail, contohnya adalah sahabat KBI ingin menggambarkan atau memberikan informasi mengenai suatu tempat seperti candi borobudur atau suatu tokoh, maka hal tersebut bisa dikatakan sebagai bentuk descriptive text.
Sedangkan descriptive text sendiri terdiri dari identification, description dan conclusion.
Contoh :
I live in a small house, it has five rooms : there are two bedrooms , a living room, a bath room, and a kitchen. I like to live in there.
when the door is open, I can see the living room. it is small with only three chairs and a table, nothing else. I prefer reading a novel in this room.
My bedroom is in the left side of the living room. in this living room there is a night table next to the bed, a tv, a radio and a computer when being board of reading, I usually play online games or chat with my friends via facebook and so on.
I know it is very small house, but I love it so much.

Jadi, perbedaan keduanya terdiri dari tujuan masing-masing yang berbeda, descriptive text digunakan untuk memberikan informasi mengenai suatu hal, sedangkan procedure text digunakan untuk menjelaskan langkah terbentuknya suatu hal. Generic structure atau susunan dari keduanya pun jelas berbeda.
